Rijke’s Produce Farm is a small scale, family owned produce and flower farm located in Morrisburg, Ontario. Growing 18 acres of vegetables, serving our weekly produce box subscribers and our on-farm store. 

 

Job Description: 

 

We are seeking a reliable, mature individual to join our farm store team. This is a hands-on role that combines customer service, retail sales, and produce handling in a fast-paced farm environment. The successful candidate will work alongside the two owners of Rijke’s produce farm, having a hand in many aspects of operating the farm. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily operations of the farm store. They must be comfortable serving customers, being a cashier, and filing the store display. The candidate must also be able to lift up to 35lbs. The ideal candidate is hard-working and able to do physical work. 

 

Tasks: (but are not limited to) 

• Greeting customers and operating the cash register. 

• Monitoring stock, restocking displays and maintaining an attractive sales area. 

• Ensuring quality of produce in store.

• Packaging weekly produce box subscriptions.

• Receiving and organizing freshly harvested produce. 

• Monitoring products and rotating products. 

• Assisting in general store cleanliness and organization.

• Providing friendly and knowledgeable customer service.

Job Details: 

Start/end date: June 1- October 31.  

Schedule: Approximately 20-30 hours per week. Can be very flexible based on what you prefer. Minimum 2 days per week (approx 20 hours) and Maximum 4 days per week (40 hours). Expected to work some Saturdays as they are the busiest days in the store. Will always be off on Sundays as the store is closed on Sundays.

Previous retail, customer service or farm market experience is an asset. No gardening or farming knowledge is required. 

 

Wage: Minimum wage

 

Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
