Position: Vegetable Farm Worker

Location: 12163 County Road 2, Morrisburg, ON

Duration: May-September (see below for more details)

Rijke’s Produce Farm is a small scale, family owned vegetable farm located in Morrisburg, Ontario. We grow 17 acres of vegetables, serving our weekly produce box subscribers and our on-farm store. 


Job Description: 

The successful candidates will work alongside the two owners of Rijke’s produce farm, having a hand in many aspects of operating the farm. We operate on a small scale, and crops are mostly planted and harvested by hand. Candidates can expect a range of tasks on the farm. 


Candidates must be comfortable working in all weather conditions (come prepared with weather-appropriate gear), comfortable with repetitive tasks, and able to lift up to 35 pounds. 


The ideal candidate is hard-working, able to do physical work, listens to instructions well, is trustworthy and willing to learn. Previous gardening and farming knowledge is not a requirement but is beneficial. 

Candidate must also be friendly and responsible to serve our customers with top quality service, maturity and kindness. 


Tasks: (but are not limited to) 

  • Fieldwork, weeding and planting. 

  • Harvesting.

  • Washing and packaging produce. 

  • Serving customers and filling display at our on-farm store.

  • Packaging weekly subscription boxes.



  • Reliable with a positive attitude 

  • Hardworking with the ability to work quickly and efficiently 

  • Pays attention to detail

  • Comfortable working in all weather conditions 

  • Willingness to learn and ask questions 

  • Comfortable working in a team or alone 

  • Active listener, asks questions and has clear communication.

Job Details: 

Start/ end date: Approx. May - September. Flexible start and end date with an understanding that a student may attending school. Potential ability to continue with hours from September-October 31 if the candidate is willing and able. 

Hours may be less in May and June during the planting season and the bulk of the hours between July and August with the harvesting and with the on farm store open. 

Schedule: Approximately 40 hours per week. 

Wage: Minimum wage. 

Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
